Flaming Embers Event

Come along to our Northern Reaches and help reinvigorate the glowing embers of the north!
The event will be a casual picnic, Arts and Science competition and tournament.
The themes of the Arts and Science competition are (deliberately broad to allow for the short lead time)
A) flames/fire (for the theme of “embers”)
– can be an interpretation of flames/fire in any medium, or an item produced by any medium which involves fire (eg. cooking, armory, lampwork etc);
and
b) Renaissance (for the theme of “rebirth/revival”).
– can be relevant to the European Renaissance of C14th-17th and the New World territories, but can also encompass other historical periods described as a “Renaissance”.
Documentation is encouraged but not required.
If you are a current member, bring along what interests you about our society. Maybe your current A&S project, a recipe book, your fighting armor or maybe some illumination!
If you are a newer member or are thinking about becoming one, come along in some basic garb. We accept anything that is an attempt – we love first attempts!
If you don’t have any garb and don’t have time to make anything, there will be some there for you which you can borrow for a gold coin donation.
If you have any, please bring along banners, decorations, heraldry – anything that could possibly medieval it up!
Come bring a rug, a picnic of your favourite nibbles and see what we have to offer!
For those interested or who arrive early, Reuben’s shed, and tools will be available for use from 9:30am (a short walk from the site). This is a perfect opportunity to work on some armor or A&S with some experienced guidance. This space is also open for those who wish to socialise before the event starts across the road.
