Households

An ancient Lochacian tradition is for people to give names to the houses they live in, and sometimes to even extend membership of such households to their friends.  Some of the great old houses of Lochac, like House Smithfield in Politarchopolis and House Attica in Rowany, started out this way.  In those days, the local newsletter (printed on paper and sent by the post — younger readers, ask your grandparents to explain these words) would even include lists of households with their street addresses and landline phone numbers!  Thus, when someone said “bardic singing this week is at The Belfry”, people would know to go to 59 Barnard Circuit in Florey for a bit of a sing.  (Don’t go there now. My parents sold up years ago, and to judge by the last sale price on realestate.com.au, it is now owned by billionaires.)

We are reinstating this tradition, but in these modern times we will leave off the details of addresses by default, including them only when the residents of a house have expressly agreed.  If you wished to know where, say, the Northern Combat Training was happening on the fourth Saturday of the month, you could look it up and then enquire of the relevant people exactly where Jotun Salr is. After a while, you’ll get used to the names to the point that accidentally revealing the address will become quite unlikely.

If you would like your household included here, please let the Webwright know.
