Greetings unto the populace of Ynys Fawr.
The dust has finally settled and Sybil and I have finally had a chance to catch our breath.
What a weekend.
Before anything else, I would ask everyone to join us in giving a heartfelt huzzah to Baron David and Baroness Arabella. Thank you both for your friendship, your service, your humour, and the countless hours you have devoted to this Barony. We are deeply honoured to be following in your footsteps.
To all the gentles who helped make the weekend happen—thank you. Whether you cooked, cleaned, marshalled, set up, packed down, heralded, retained, entertained, or simply turned up with a smile and a willingness to lend a hand, you helped create something truly special.
To those who travelled from near and far to those attending their first event, thank you for sharing the occasion with us.
Seeing so many familiar faces, and meeting so many new ones, warmed our hearts.
There is one thing I have been thinking about over the past few days.
A Barony is not built by the people wearing coronets.
It is built by the quiet conversations: by the fighter helping a newcomer with their kit, by the artisan sharing a skill without expecting anything in return. By the person who notices someone standing alone and invites them to sit at their table. By the steward who wonders if everyone has eaten. By the volunteer who stays that extra fifteen minutes because one more job needs doing.
That is Ynys Fawr.
Their Majesties, King Aonghus II and Queen Ginevra II, recognised the service of eleven of our good gentles.
Service is so often given quietly, without expectation of recognition, yet it is that very generosity which keeps our Society thriving. To each of those honoured, we offer our heartfelt congratulations and our deepest thanks. Your example enriches Ynys Fawr, strengthens Lochac, and inspires us all.
Sunday saw our newest Rapier Champion, Noble Lann Sliochd Coniall prove themselves with Honour, Respect and a fast blade. Huzzah
Our promise to you is simple. Sybil and I will do our very best to serve this Barony with kindness, fairness, good humour, and open hearts. We won’t know every answer, and we’ll undoubtedly make mistakes along the way, but we’ll always listen, we’ll always be willing to learn, and we’ll always remember that these coronets belong to the Barony—they are simply entrusted to us for a time.
Thank you for the incredible welcome you’ve given us. We are humbled by your trust and excited for what lies ahead.
Now then… let’s see what adventures the next few years have in store.
For Ynys Fawr!
Tosti and Sybil
