June Monthly Letter

To the populace of Ynys Fawr do Anna and Adelindis send greetings

This past month saw the announcement of the new Heirs to the Crown of Lochac, Prince Niall and Princess Sabine. Huzzah! King Felix and Queen Eva have asked Their representatives to pursue further consultation with Their populace throughout Lochac on the subject of changing the schedule of Kingdom events. We will speak with our Seneschal and announce a time for a meeting to discuss this issue later this month.

We were delighted to attend the sixth Little Bit of Rapier this past weekend, although saddened by the news that it will be the last one to be held in its current format. We thank TH Lord Declan of Drogheda for running this most recent event, and most of the others in the series, it has been a great contribution to the rapier community in this Barony. It was a great pleasure to have the company of Master Emrys Tudor and Lady Aliette le Lievre, who added greatly to the wealth of rapier knowledge with their teaching. The feast on Saturday night was small but enjoyable, with a delicious meal prepared by Lady Alessandra di Fiore di Piero della Mora. Lady Alessandra also provided hot soup for lunch on both days, which was heartily welcomed given the weather.

The Quarterly Tourneys were held on the Sunday afternoon, after another morning of teaching by Master Emrys. The rapier tournament, with seven combatants, was won by Master Emrys, and the armoured tournament, with three, by Sir Wulfgar Jarnsiða. Congratulations to both these gentles on their prowess. The Bronze Falchion for chivalry was bestowed upon Sir Wulfgar Jarnsiða, and the Silver Lymphad upon Sir Guillaume d’Oze. In addition to those received for Sir Oze, we had so many recommendations from the populace for Lady Aliette that we chose to award a lymphad token to this gentle for her courtesy and grace on the field.

This past month has seen Lord Perran of Lyskeret step down as Chirurgeon at Little Bit of Rapier, after two full terms plus a few months of service in this role. We thank him for his dedication. We were also delighted to hear from our Baronial Chatelaine, TH Lady Elena Anthony, that she has two new deputies in this office: Lady Talia de Bonnay has stepped up as Hospitaller for the Canton of Lightwood, and Lord Erlendr Tryggvason has taken the role of Baronial deputy. We give thanks to both Lady Talia and Lord Erlendr, it is especially encouraging to see younger members taking on their first offices.

In upcoming events, the casual, ungarbed June Social Night will be on June 1st at Kraken Hall, and the Canton of Lightwood’s Winter Warmer Potluck Feast is being held on June 15th at the clubhouse at Castle Forbes Bay Recreation Ground. All are welcome.

Yours in service to the Crown and the populace of Ynys Fawr,

Anna and Adelindis
